Parts of the Apple Watch 2 made by made using new 3D printing tech : Tech Live Trends
In a post published on Medium, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will release an Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the second half of the year and will age made using new 3D printing technology.
“In terms of the supply chain for 3D printers used to produce mechanical parts for the Apple Watch Ultra, IPG Photonics is the exclusive supplier of laser components, and the printer suppliers are Farsoon and BLT,” he writes. “If shipments go well, I believe more Apple products will adopt 3D printing technology, which will help improve production cost and ESG performance in Apple’s supply chain, and the above-mentioned suppliers will also benefit from this new production trend.”
While it was expected that Apple would release an Apple Watch Series 9 this year, there was some doubt that the company would release a second generation Apple Watch Ultra. DigiTimes said that an even bigger version of the Apple Watch Ultra would arrive in 2024. The current Ultra has a 1.93-inch display, while the 2024 version will be 10% larger with a 50mm case size per the report. It’s also expected to be the first Apple Watch to adopt micro-LED display tech.
In February display analyst Jeff Pu claimed Apple will update the 2024 Apple Watch Ultra with a 2.1-inch micro-LED display. The new display tech will allow for a higher brightness output than the current Apple Watch and its OLED screen.
Some pundits were expecting an Apple Watch Ultra would be launched in 2024. But now such a device is anticipated to have been pushed to 2025 or 2026.
