Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K Doubles As A Charger And A 4K Monitor Hub (Review)
In our world full of gadgets where we see thousands of accessories fighting for our attention, it’s not often that a genuinely innovative accessory comes along that aims to distinguish itself from the crowd. However today, we are going to review and talk about a multi-purpose accessory that does exactly that.
In this article, we will review the Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K. This powerful accessory serves many useful purposes. It is a 65W GaN charger that can charge your MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Nintendo Switch, and other devices. It is also a 4K HDMI output device that is capable of supporting a 4K monitor.
However, that’s not it as this device has more to offer including USB-A charging ports for charging accessories as well as internal 512GB SSD storage that can be used for data storage.
Design and features
The Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is a GaN charger that doubles as a hub. For this, it features a 65W charging output for any device that you connect with. It has a USB-C port that can charge a device at 60W fast charging speed and also transmit data at 10Gbps speed. Along with a USB-C port, you also get two USB-A ports that each can charge at 5W speeds.
Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is available in two variants. One variant comes with built-in storage of 512GB. This storage can be used as an external hard drive for storing data and backups. It also proves useful when you are traveling as you can store your data in your charger and 4K hub, and do not need to carry an external hard drive with you. The SSD can even be used as a stealth storage device, as no one will be able to tell that your charger is also capable of storing your data, which is quite neat.
Lastly, you get an HDMI output port that is capable of supporting a 4K display at 30Hz. The same HDMI port can support a 2K monitor at 60Hz and a 1080p monitor at 120Hz.
The second variant comes without SSD storage. This is designed for those that do not require storage. It is also available at a lower price than the SSD version.
On this wall charger, you will find an LED indicator that turns orange or white when data is being transferred to and from the built-in hard drive.
The Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is a small-sized wall charger and a hub that fits in the palm of your hand. It weighs 99.5g only, making it a perfect travel companion.
The design of this wall charger is quite attractive. It features a nice carbon fiber texture in one half while the other half features a matte black finish. Both of these finishes are divided by an orange line that adds a nice character to the overall look and feel of it.
Connect monitor and charge MacBook simultaneously
If you’re like me and use your MacBook in the clamshell mode, then Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is a great accessory for you. This wall charger lets you charge your MacBook and connects it to your 4K monitor at the same time.
For using a MacBook with an external monitor and to connect accessories users normally require some sort of a USB Hub. Especially if your MacBook does not come with a HDMI port. However, this Minix wall charger doubles as a hub, eliminating the need to add a USB-C hub to your MacBook setup.
When you add Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub to your setup you can get rid of your wall charger as well as the USB-C hub. This charger will charge your MacBook at 60W speeds while also connecting your 4K monitor to your laptop via its HDMI port. Not only that, but you can also take advantage of its USB-A ports to connect your wired mouse, keyboard, and other accessories or charge accessories like AirPods or Apple Watch.
Great for gaming
While the Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is a perfect MacBook accessory that can be used in an office or home desk, it is also great for gaming. You can connect your Nintendo Switch, iPad, or even an iPhone 15 to this accessory and take advantage of its HDMI connection to play games on a large TV or a monitor.
What’s great about this wall charger is that not only will it let you connect your handheld device to an external display, but it will also charge it at fast charging speeds. So when you are done playing on the big display, your device will be charged and ready to hit the road with you.
Thanks to its USB-C port that supports fast charging and fast data transmission, all you need to do is plug one cable into your MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Nintendo Switch, or any other device and start using it.
Travel and built-in data storage
The Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K is also an excellent travel companion. Due to its small size, you do not have to think twice before putting it in your travel backpack or purse. When you are at your destination you can use it to charge your MacBook, iPhone, iPad, and other accessories while also using it to connect your laptop to an external monitor.
Speaking of travel it is worth mentioning that this wall charger features worldwide compatibility of 100-240V and ships with US, EU, UK, and AU plugs. So no matter where in the world you are traveling you can rely on this trusty wall charger to keep your devices fully charged.
If you get the Mini P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K with built-in storage, then you can take advantage of the fast SSD that comes with 512GB storage. My review of the Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K
I have been using the Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K for over a month now and have formed pretty strong opinions about it. I think this product is very innovative and solves a genuine problem for many users out there.
Before getting this wall charger hub, I have been using a big docking station to connect an external monitor to my 16-inch MacBook Pro. While the docking station offered some other benefits such as USB-A ports and SD card reader, it also took up space on the desk.
By adding Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K to my home office desk setup I have been able to get rid of the USB-C docking station. And the best part is there aren’t any features that I am missing out on. Sure, this wall charger hub does not have a MicroSD card slot, however, that is not an issue as my MacBook Pro already comes with one. Although my MacBook Pro also has an HDMI port, being able to move the HDMI cable off the table and out of sight is a benefit I don’t plan on giving up anytime soon. And I imagine the HDMI output feature would be even more useful for those who have MacBooks that do not have an HDMI port.
Another cool use case of this wall charger hub is that it allows me to use my iPad Air and iPhone 15 Pro Max in ways that were not possible before. Now I can simply unplug the USB-C cable from my MacBook Pro and plug it in my iPad or iPhone. After connecting the USB-C cable to iOS devices I can enjoy 4K output on my monitor. This makes gaming on iPhone and iPad a lot more fun and engaging. The whole process is plug and play and you can switch to another device in a few seconds.
I also had the experience of taking the Minix P4K GaN Charger Hub 4K on a trip. For this trip, I decided to ditch separate chargers for my MacBook, iPhone, and Apple Watch in favor of this single wall charger. Throughout the trip, I was able to charge all my devices with ease at fast speeds without carrying multiple chargers.
The multiple plugs also helped as I encountered both US and UK plugs in different hotels, and using the UK plug adapter that comes with this charger I was able to plug this charger into any power socket that was at my disposal.
To sum up, I would recommend this product to anyone who uses his or her MacBook in the clamshell mode and likes to plug in their Nintendo Switch, iPad, and iPhone 15 to an external monitor. This all-in-one GaN charger excels at what it is designed for and eliminates the need to use any other accessories with it.
Overall I am very impressed with the thorough features, design, and power output of the Minix GaN Charger Hub 4K and would rate it 10/10.
